A charming 200 year old family home set in a quiet, rural backwater between Potters Bar and Hatfield, yet close to all amenities and with easy access to the M25, A1M and M1. Only 18 minutes by train to London, Kings Cross. We are also within easy driving distance of Stansted, Luton and Heathrow airports.

In spite of the peaceful setting, we are within easy striking distance of Hertfordshire University, the Royal Veterinary College, Hatfield Business Park, Shire Park, Queenswood School, Brookmans Park Golf Club and many other business and leisure locations.

"Everything a B&B should be”. This is one of the remarks left in Stewards Cottage’s visitors book, which we have been trying to live up to ever since!

Stewards Cottage has been our family home for over 30 years and now that our daughters have moved on we enjoy offering a warm and friendly welcome to guests from all over the world. It has been described by one regular guest as "a haven of calm in an oasis of peace".

We are the first Bed and Breakfast in Hertfordshire to join the Green Tourism Business Scheme, demonstrating our commitment to the environment and a more sustainable way of living. We have an ongoing programme of measures to achieve this aim, whilst at the same time maintaining the quality you would expect from a four star establishment.

All produce is locally sourced, organic, homemade, homegrown or Fairtrade. In summer, weather permitting, guests can have their breakfast in the small front garden and are welcome to wander down through the garden to the orchard where they can spend time relaxing and wildlife spotting.
